(This may only partially answer this question) The amount of money that a racehorse makes depends on how many races it participates in and which type of race it runs (eg. Flat turf or jumps). My ex-racehorse won just over a total of £20,000 over his life as a racehorse. He was running from around June 2005 to September 2010.
