A "sickle of leather" is an impossibility! First look up the definition for a sickle, and then imagine one made of leather. It wouldn't work.

The line, found in the various forms of the "Scarborough Fair" poem, is one of a list of impossible tasks set, such as making a cambric shirt with no seam or needlework, or washing it in a dry well. The implication being that none of these tasks can be achieved, so the line "Then she'll be a true love of mine" is never going to happen.
