The lance was a jousting weapon used by knights. It is spear-like weapon designed to be used while mounted. It was commonly equipped with a small circular plate called a vamplate, which prevented the hand from sliding up the shaft upon impact.
In the medieval ages, jousting was a martial game between two horsemen and using lances, often as part of a tournament. The primary aim is to strike the opponent with the lance while riding towards him at high speed, if possible breaking the lance on the opponent's shield or armor, or by unhorsing him.Currently, there are the following jousting sports:Sea jousting, a water-based sportFinger Jousting, a modern obscure sportJoust (roller coaster), a roller coaster at Dutch WonderlandAnimals jousting with horns or antlers

Originally a lance was used in jousting, which is done mounted on a horse's back. The lance was used to knock your opponent off his steed. To be honest it could be any number of mideval weapons but if you want the answer then just do your math
I can not find a specific height listed in the historical research articles I have on jousting. However, in my experience with jousting, I would guess the center divider was about 3 feet high. Much higher than that and you run the risk of hitting it with a lance tip as you gallop down the lane.
