In Washington Irving's story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," the people were terrorized by the Headless Horseman, a ghostly figure said to be a Hessian soldier who lost his head in battle during the American Revolutionary War. The Headless Horseman is known for riding through Sleepy Hollow at night in search of his lost head.
The Night of the Headless Horseman was created in 1999.
Ichabod Crane, a character from Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," would encounter the Headless Horseman who would chase him through the woods. Legend has it that the Headless Horseman throws a flaming pumpkin at Ichabod, who disappears, never to be seen again.
it is real i saw it but its horse is white and he has a suit on so does the horse.also when he is looking for his head he wheres a pumpkin to replace it.and ledgends say he lost his head in the war by a cannon if you wanna see him on a full moon night at midnight if you you go that time at sleepy hollow you will see him.
The old country wives in "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" say that Ichabod Crane was spirited away by the Headless Horseman and never seen again. They believe that the Horseman carried him off into the night, leaving only his shattered hat behind.
He met the headless horseman himself the other night when he was coming from tarrytown
In "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," Ichabod Crane is an opportunistic school master who sees a jackpot if he can woo and marry Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter of the local squire. Unfortunately, Katrina already has a suitor, the ill tempered Brom Bones, who sets out to destroy the competition once and for all. Ichabod, suspicious by nature is regaled with stories of a headless horseman who haunts the paths of Sleepy Hollow. One night, on his way home from Katrina's house, Ichabod is allegedly attacked and chased by the Headless Horseman, never to be seen again.
"The night grew darker and darker; the stars seemed to sink deeper into the sky, and clouds occasionally hid them from his sight. He had never felt so lonely and dismal." This is on his way home from the party before he is chased by the headless horseman
On the night of the quilting frolic in Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," Ichabod Crane attends the event, hoping to win the affection of Katrina Van Tassel. After the festivities, he leaves the gathering feeling emboldened but is soon confronted by the legendary Headless Horseman. In a terrifying chase, Ichabod is pursued through the woods, ultimately disappearing without a trace, leaving the townsfolk to speculate about his fate. The incident solidifies the eerie reputation of Sleepy Hollow and adds to the legend surrounding Ichabod's mysterious disappearance.
he doesn't put his horse anywhere, hes always using it
Because you touch yourself at night
um.. i really dont know but just let u know this is the summary of the sleepy hollow. The story is set circa 1790 in the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town, in a secluded glen called Sleepy Hollow. It tells the story ofIchabod Crane, a sycophantic, lean, lanky, and extremely superstitious schoolmaster from Connecticut, who competes with Abraham "Brom Bones" Van Brunt, the town rowdy, for the hand of 18-year-old Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter and sole child of a wealthy farmer, Baltus Van Tassel. As Crane leaves a party he attended at the Van Tassel home on an autumn night, he is pursued by the Headless Horseman, who is supposedly the ghost of a Hessian trooper who had his head shot off by a stray cannonball during "some nameless battle" of the American Revolutionary War, and who "rides forth to the scene of battle in nightly quest of his head". Ichabod mysteriously disappears from town, leaving Katrina to marry Brom Bones, who was "to look exceedingly knowing whenever the story of Ichabod was related". Although the nature of the Headless Horseman is left open to interpretation, the story implies that the Horseman was really Brom Bones in disguise.
