This question is very general; it depends on what needs repair and depends on the hat. Most straw hats naturally go out of shape or wear out, because they are after all made of straw. Straw expands quite a bit when wet, and never returns to its manufactured state. This is why so many straw cowboy hats start to "hook" the brim down front and back. A good hat repair shop can steam and shape them back a few times, but never completely and they need to be eventually replaced. Some people keep on wearing them despite the ever-increasing "Rockabilly" look. Leather hats likewise lose their "starch" over time, and like any leather become more soft and flexible over time. It is almost as difficult to "re-form" leather hats as it is straw hats. Again, your best bet is taking the hat to a hat shop that repairs. Felt and wool hats can be blocked, cleaned, shaped, etc. by a good hat shop that performs repairs, cleaning and blocking.

A ten-gallon hat is a style of wide-brimmed cowboy hat known for its tall crown and large brim, often associated with Western culture. The term "ten-gallon" is somewhat misleading, as it doesn't actually refer to the hat's capacity but rather its appearance. A Stetson, on the other hand, is a brand of cowboy hats and other headwear, originally founded by John B. Stetson in the 1860s. While a Stetson can be a ten-gallon hat, not all ten-gallon hats are Stetsons, as the brand encompasses various styles and designs.
