check wiring on transmission.there is a conector there that might not be pluged in or the wires might be broking somewhere.
Could be blubs burntout, fuse blown or a bad relay switch. If that's not problem. Then could be switch on the shifter or on transmission depends on year of car. when you shift to reverse it should trigger switch for backup lights.Hope this helps.
If reverse lights stay on while the vehicle is in drive, it could indicate a malfunction in the transmission's neutral safety switch or the reverse light switch, both of which are responsible for activating the reverse lights. Additionally, a wiring issue or short circuit could be causing the lights to remain illuminated. It's advisable to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic to diagnose and resolve the issue properly.
first check fuses, then bulbs, then reverse switch on trans mission,it might need replacing, its screw into your transmission.
A car that won't move when in reverse could indicate a problem with the transmission. It could also indicate a problem in the gear selector.
I also own a Nissan Pulsar Q hatchback with the same problem. One reverse light is orange, the other is white. The dealership when attempting to fix this problem assumed I had two white reverse lights so my car short circuited. I have been told for the orange light to work I have to turn on the headlights, (sounds a bit dodgy) Not sure if it makes sense, but I hope it helps.
Very possible ... best to check the wiring with a voltmeter checking for +12vdc.
What could be the problem when a 2002 Volvo won't stay stared
could be the neutral saftey switch .
It could be as simple as bulbs burned out or your switch could be defective.
Not too sure if this will help. I have a Volvo 1995 S90 with a similar problem - power windows, indicators and dash lights all were not working. I found that it had to do with the ignition. When i turn on the car and discover that these aspects are not functioning properly i twitch the key a millermeter towards me and they all fire up.- Could be a different problem, but thought you might want to know...Volvo AnswerNot too sure if this will help. If the reverse lights on your GMC Sonoma aren't working, it could be due to a blown fuse, a faulty reverse light switch, or burnt-out bulbs. Additionally, wiring issues or corroded connectors might also be the culprit. Checking these components systematically can help identify the problem. If you're unsure, consulting a professional mechanic is recommended for proper diagnosis and repair.
