AbS Trac modual needs to be replaced when the ABS light goes on. Unit cost is $500. new. You can send the part away and have it refurbished for as low as $125. You need a special socket to get it off. You can purchase this tool usually at the place where you get the part refurbished and they will give you a discount. Its about $5.00 for the tool. This is common with S70's
It actually mean Antilock Brake System not automatic braking system
Replace the ABS module - from what I read it will cost about 900 bucks
The 1998 Ford F1 50 pickup truck ABS module is mounted to the firewall in the engine compartment. The module will be on the passenger side of the firewall.
the check engine light goes on and all the other lights ABS, brake, trac keep coming on and going off
Fix the problem and the light will go out. Normally on Volvo 850's the ABS sensor goes out (actually a wire comes loose inside the unit) this sensor is under the hood on the ABS unit.
To replace the ABS control module on a 2003 Volvo S80, first, disconnect the vehicle's battery to ensure safety. Remove the necessary components to access the ABS module, which may include the air intake duct or battery tray. Unplug the electrical connectors from the module, then unbolt and remove the old module. Install the new ABS module by reversing the removal process, ensuring all connections are secure before reconnecting the battery.
Code P0154 means "Speed signal from ABS unit does not contain correct data. Possible DTC in ABS module."
You can get ABS codes for your Volvo at your local Volvo dealership. You can also find the ABS codes in most Volvo service manuals.
If the ABS light is also on, the speedometer will work intermitly. ABS module must be repaired. It costs about 200$ to 300$ (Can) to repair. You should also take the fuse off for the abs control unit until it is repaired... it's the second fuse I think (not sure, check the diagram).
Problem with the ABS.
My ABS light was coming on too and I found out it was my ABS control module, which isn't cheap. I found out this is a common problem in 1998 Honda passports.
I have a 98 Windstar with the same problem. According to my mechanic, it's the ABS controle module. It seems to be a common problem with these vans. Unfortunately, the module costs $1300. I am trying to find a used one, if I do and it fixes the problem, I'll let you know
