Can the transmission bands be tightened on a 1980 300D Mercedes Benz auto transmission?
There is a way to do this.(Key at the bottom of the transmission) But I would be careful as to who does this. If it is done wrong you will be replacing the transmission. I would take it to a Mercedes specialty shop, not the dealer. also there should be linkage coming from the accelerator traveling to the transmission. If these bars and links are not adjusted correctly you will have a hard shift.(It should be tight but not too tight) That is where to start. If that doesn't work then go to the shop and have the tranny looked at. It could just be a vacuum line. Hope this helps.
