Never. Both brands are under control of FIAT (Italy), even today. Ferrari and Maserati were fusioned by FIAT in 1997 (even if brands remained separated) but FIAT gone back in 2006. Maserati is now fusioned with Alfa-Romeo, (another Italian car maker), within FIAT.
