Its in the upper right hand or driver side engine compartment in a sealed box with clasps. Near the brake fluid reservoir.
It is not be fused. Mercedes barely uses fuses as is. Everything is relays. Cant have a burned fuse killing you.
Take a look under the cover of the fuse box cover...the layout should be there
On my 87 there is a printed paper right under the fuse cover lid.
Under the hood on the left fender well under a black flip top fuse holder by the strut.
The fuse is mounted in the fuse box in the right hand side of the engine bay. you will have to unclip the lid of the fuse box and the instrument cluster fuse is no.3
