To open the rear door on a Jaguar S-Type, locate the door handle on the inside of the vehicle. Pull the handle to release the latch and then gently push the door outward. If the door is locked, ensure the child safety locks are disengaged and use the key fob or the central locking switch to unlock the doors. If you encounter any issues, check the vehicle's manual for specific instructions related to your model year.
To remove the rear door lock from a Jaguar S-Type, first, ensure the door is fully open and disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues. Next, remove the door panel by unscrewing any fasteners and carefully prying it away from the door frame. Once the panel is off, disconnect the electrical connectors linked to the lock mechanism, then unscrew and remove the lock assembly from the door. Finally, reverse the process to install the new lock, ensuring all connections are secure.
Possibly the best way is to remove the door panel you may have to remove the rear seat(s) to allow you to gain access to the panel. once the panel is removed you then have to flick the catch inside the door to release it.
dont remove it yourself ask a mokanic to do it

Do you have a hammer?
You will find one of your door locks is defective, with the doors all shut and you inside try to lock and open each door at a time and you will find one that is stiff or notchy to operate, that will be the defective one. You will probably find if you lock that one manually the central locking will lock the rest but don't leave it too long to replace the door lock/mechanism or you will end up with a door that will not open from inside or out like me. Anyone know how to get mine open ?
I did this with my 1996 Lumina APV. If you have rear speakers, remove the speaker cover(s), remove the speaker and reach in and find the mechanism, turn it to open. May have to do simultaneously for both sides. Then remove the tailgate panel and repair.
