I have no experience with this, but from reading answers about other tailight questions on this site, you don't have to remove the trunk lining. The round snap outs on the left and right on the inside of the trunk will provide access to the taillights. I have a 2002 A6, but there shouldn't be much difference.
need more info...is the trunk accessable from inside the vehicle or from out side......
On a 2001 Audi A6 the battery is located towards the rear of the engine compartment. If you are replacing it you have to remove the large plastic shield to get to it!On a 2003 it is in the spare tire compartment in the trunk.
go through the trunk
In the event the Audi A3 is stuck in park:
The battery is located in the trunk on the right side. Remove the upright 1/2 panel and then remove the trap door panel.

In the Audi A7, the battery is typically located in the trunk area, specifically on the right side beneath a cover. This placement helps maintain weight distribution and protects the battery from engine heat. To access it, you'll need to open the trunk and remove the cover or panel.
A8s in the 1997 to 2003 vintage all have batteries in the trunk. Open trunk, remove flat, carpeted cover plate from the right, rear corner of the trunk. Hook jumper cables to the exposed battery terminals. Use a flash light to ensure you identify the + & - terminals properly. The wiring colors are tricky in this case. USE THE FLASHLIGHT.
I don't know if there is a difference but in my 2006 Audi S4, it is located in the trunk.
