thare is a little red cap on the front of the tranny
how do you add transmission fluid to a 1996 vw jetta?
the plug to add and check the transmission fluid is on the side of the transmission and only accessable from under the vehicle.
AnswerYou add the transmission fluid through the tube at the back of the engine compartment in the dipstick that says trans fluid.
If it is an automatic transmission, you add transmission fluid with a long funnel through the dipstick opening.
pull the tranny dipstick out and add the fluid through the dipstick tube.
To add fluid to your Volkswagen Jetta's automatic transmission, first ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is running. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick, usually found near the back of the engine bay. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, then remove it again to check the fluid level. If needed, use a funnel to add the appropriate type of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube until it reaches the proper level. Always consult your owner's manual for specific fluid type and capacity.
You add the trans fluid where the dipstick is at, if it is a manual then you will have to go under the car where the transmission is find the check level plug on the transmission loosen the plug and stick your pinky in it if fluid touches the pinky then your good if not add the fluid there!
THERE IS NO TRANSMISION DIP STICK ON THE VW JETTA YOU HAVE TO BRING THE CAR INTO VW SERVICE. ONLY THEY CAN CHECK AND ADD TRANSMISION FLUID
The same place you check it.
Usually you drain and replace it...;)
Down the automatic transmission dipstick tube.
I have a 1996 VW dl jetta and to add the transmission fluid is on the right front side of the car underneath by the tire. My husband had to put it in that way. But he said he will never go through that again. To add tranny fluid you have to go to the garage. Because they have to pump the fluid in the tranny. There is no place to check the tranny fluid like a reg. car? Crazy but true.
