Remove the gas line (depressurize it first), and remove the electrical connector. Then remove the two bolts that fasten the valve to the intake manifold. The valve is below the manifold so it is not very easy to access..
Installation of the new one is reverse of the removal.
My 1991 740 volvo turbo doesnt start specially during the morning. Is it comes with a cold start valve?
The cold start valve connections on the 1990 and 1991 Volvo 740 Wagons are generally similar, but there can be variations depending on specific engine configurations and emissions systems. It's essential to consult the vehicle's service manual or wiring diagrams for precise details, as slight differences may exist between model years or engine types. Always ensure compatibility when replacing or diagnosing issues related to the cold start valve.
The cold start valve on a 1991 Volvo 740 is located on the intake manifold, typically near the throttle body. It is designed to inject extra fuel into the intake during cold starts to assist in starting the engine. To access it, you may need to remove the air intake duct and other components for better visibility. Always refer to a repair manual for specific instructions and diagrams.

simply to get more power I "believe" that 1991 was the first year for the 16v. I have a 1990, and mine is an 8 valve. Hope this helps. -Tony
There is no cable as in conventional mechanical odometers, instead the odometer in your Volvo is electronic, sensing pulses from a sender located on top of the rear differential.
replace ign sw on 1991 volvo 240
Have browsed forums about a similar issue on a 1997 Volvo V70. One suggestion was that the throttle control valve might be stuck. I couldn't be bothered to fix it so I bought a new car instead. :)
long answer: yes
