If its a Mk 4 lift up the drivers side rear seat base remove carpet remove three screws on black lid lift off turning anti clockwise take off pipes black feed blue red and cables then lift out pump fuel gauge unit , while you have the innards removed it would be a good time to replace the fuel filter as well
If it's a Mk2 then there are 2 fuel pumps, one inside the fuel tank, and one under the car, first relive the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay while the engine is running and the engine will die on its own, due to lack of fuel pressure. Then unbolt and remove the fuel pump of your choice and reinstall the same way as was removed.
its located under the car jus in front of the right rear tire. it holds the fuel filter fuel pump and fuel accumulator. i have a 1986 golf that mine is broken and cant find a new housing anywhere.
on the bottom of the water pump
you can't as the relay needs to be there to put the right amount of fuel through at the right time, buy another fuel relay.
The fuel relay on a VW Golf MK1 GTI is typically the 167 relay. It is responsible for controlling the fuel pump operation. If you're troubleshooting fuel delivery issues, checking this relay for proper function is a good starting point. Always refer to the specific vehicle's manual for accurate information and location.
To change the fuel pump on a 1983 VW Rabbit GTI, first, disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Then, locate the fuel pump, which is typically found under the vehicle near the fuel tank. Remove the fuel lines and electrical connections, then unbolt the pump from its mounting bracket. Install the new fuel pump by reversing the process, ensuring all connections are secure before reconnecting the battery and testing the system.
I have 95 golf and i just change water pump and thermostat and still have coolant coming out of expansion tank
Sadly your out of luck, it uses deisel :(
in the oil sump, and is chain driven
sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is broke
To change the fuel filter on a Mk2 Golf GTI, first, ensure the car is off and the fuel system is depressurized. Locate the fuel filter, which is typically mounted under the car along the chassis rail. Disconnect the fuel lines carefully, using a wrench to remove the filter from its bracket. Install the new filter in the same orientation, reconnect the fuel lines, and check for any leaks before starting the engine.
It's in the fuel tank.
