How do you change low beam headlight on 2001 Mercedes Benz s500?

It is really easy once you know what to do:

1. Turn the headlight switch to the top center position to turn the headlights off and open the hood. Determine which headlight bulb you want to replace.

2. Search for the bulb cover on the rear of the headlight assembly. The low beam is the outward when facing bulb on the assembly.

3. Push down the upper tab on the appropriate bulb cover. This will release the cover from the assembly. Free up the bottom of the cover and set it aside. On the rear of the bulb socket is an electrical connection. Unplug the connection.

4. On the bulb socket, turn the black cover (This is not the first cover removed), grasp the bulb and pull it straight out of the assembly.

5. Insert the new bulb straight into the mount (hold it by its base)-NOT by the glass). Line up the notch on the bulb socket with the recession on the bulb. Turn the cover to secure the new bulb.

6. plug the electrical connection back into the headlight bulb. Push the bulb cover (the 1st cover removed) firmly back in place to snap it back on.

Note: Touching the bulb glass can cause the new bulbs to fail. Take extra care not to touch the glass.
