Open drivers door. Get in. Drive to dealership and pay them $300 for the same service that would cost $30 on a Ford. Sell POS car because if you haven't strarted replcing $600 oilpans you will soon. Open the engine compartment and unscrew the oil filler cap located on the right side of the motor near the top. Next, you proably will need to jack the front of the car up a bit in order to get under it for the following procedure: Remove the under-carriage cowling by unscrewing the 7 connectors (only a half turn on each screw will release the cowling). Locate the oil drain plug which is conveniently located at the side of the pan for easy removal (it faces the driver's side front wheel nearly in line with the axle). Place the oil pan beneath the plug and unscrew the plug using either a socket or open end wrench. Once the oil is drained, loosen the oil filer counter-clockwise (which is located close the plug). Allow the excess oil to drain completely from both areas. Once the oil has been fully drained, clean the surface area where the new oil filter will be attached. Make sure you put a small bead of fresh oil on the surface of the gasket so it will seal when screwing it back on in a clockwise direction. Only hand-tighten the oil filter following the directions on the filter (usually one full turn past the initial point of resistance--it should be very snug--but with no power tools or the aid of a wrench of any kind). Then, screw in the cleaned plug for the oil pan--using a wrench and tigthening it up real snug--but not so tight that it strips the threads. Add the new oil (5-30weight) carefully so as not to spill any in the engine compartment. It will take about 6.5 quarts--be careful not to put in too much--do not go past the "max" line on the dip-stick. Once all the oil is in, close the cap, be sure the dip stick is seated and start the motor--checking to make sure there are no leaks at the plug or the new filter. Turn off engine and re-attach the under-carriage cowling. That's it!
