Hernia warning. The battery is centered on the firewall so you need to reach a bit to remove it. It is heavy and awkward. Pull the rubber strip off the front of the compartment cover and lift off the cover. There is a bolt on the passenger side of the battery at the bottom that holds it down. Remove it. Put a "data saver" on the cables so that you won't need to reset the radio security code or re-adapt the throttle. Unclamp the negative, then positive cables and lift the battery out.
