Jack the drivers side rear tire up, and look under and up toward the gas cap. You'll need a 10mm socket to loosen the clamp. Also a 17mm wrench to release the the fuel filter connections. Loosen one side and allow the pressure to release out, you'll have a little gas flow. Watch your eyes. Pretty basic, but you'll need effort and patience. Good Luck
change a front directional on a xj6 1996
The fuel filter is mounted in a retainer on the frame near the left rear tire, it is an inline style fuel filter with a compression (flair fittng) nut on each end. Make sure you replace the two "O" rings when replacing the filter.
On a 1993 XJ6 the fuel filter is bolted to the underside of the car on the nearside near the rear wheel-arch.

The primary fuel filter will be in the boot, "Trunk". At the front right corner of the spare tire compartment.
On a 2004 Jaguar XJ6, the fuel filter is located on the underside of the vehicle, typically along the fuel line near the fuel tank. It is often positioned near the rear axle or along the chassis. Accessing it may require raising the vehicle for better visibility and reach. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for specific details and safety precautions.
Seriously? Is the oil dirty then the filter is dirty. Change it every 3-4k miles! On my 88 XJ6 I change it ever 4k miles since it does hold 8 quarts, on my 94 XJ12 I change it ever 6k miles as it holds 11 quarts. If you drive it like a race car in the dead of summer change it more often, if its really dirty before the miles are up then change it anyways. It's the most important thing to do for these old gals.
u have to hard wire it in
To troubleshoot a 1996 Jaguar XJ6 that turns over but won't start, first check the battery and starter to ensure they're functioning properly. Next, inspect the fuel system for issues, such as a clogged fuel filter or a faulty fuel pump, and verify that there's adequate fuel pressure. Additionally, examine the ignition system for spark by testing the ignition coils and checking the condition of the spark plugs. If these components are in working order, consider scanning for diagnostic trouble codes, as they can provide further insights into potential issues.
You have to remove the fuel tank. The pump is inside the tank in a plastic mount. Its about a 4 hour job in and out.
