The indicator bulb on the VW Beetle wing mirror is an LED which means the unit must be replaced. You need to remove the mirror glass to access the LED.

Fold the mirror right back against the glass and you will see a hole on the back of the mirror,if you look inside you will see a steel clip,push the clip to the left and the mirror case will slide off leaving the glass and motor behind,the rest is obvious when you see the repeater inside,this is sold as a complete unit not just the bulb

There are no conventional bulbs, rather there are three LEDs built into the repeater unit. Given the amount of use that they have it would be extremely unlikely for them all to fail together so if none are coming on it is more likely to be a wiring fault or similar. (check the wiring at the door hinge) To remove the unit it is necessary to prise off the painted mirror cover and remove the mirror glass by pushing in at the bottom and levering out at the top. This exposes the screws holding the repeater unit which are small torx head screws.
Remove outer case there is two screws holding the unit in place one behind the mirror and one to the end behind the indicator plug you will need a long thin hex driver i think t 1.5 size there around 35 pounds new
