From the outside of the car.. Just un-screw the two screws and change the bulb.
To change the license plate bulbs in a 2001 Suzuki XL-7, start by opening the rear hatch and locating the license plate light assembly. in the rear facia, under the trunk lid there is 9 bolts holding the facia on. You must remove the nuts and pull the facia out and right above the license is the two bulbs 194. replace the bulbs and put the facia back on and you are on your way.
You actually only change the bulb. They are held in harnesses inside the hood, just behind the actual headlights. Once you start tinkering with it, you can see how it works. It's easy to change the bulbs in a C-Class Mercedes.
