To clean the idle control valve (ICV) on a 1998 Vectra 1.8 LS, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove the ICV from the throttle body. Use a throttle body cleaner or carburetor cleaner to spray the valve and gently scrub it with a soft brush to remove carbon deposits. Rinse it with cleaner, let it dry completely, and then reattach it to the throttle body. Finally, reconnect the battery terminal and start the engine to ensure proper operation.

To replace the idle air control (IAC) valve on a 1998 Ford Ranger, first, disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Locate the IAC valve on the throttle body, then remove the electrical connector and the two screws securing the valve. Carefully pull out the old IAC valve, clean the mounting surface, and insert the new valve, securing it with screws and reconnecting the electrical connector. Finally, reconnect the battery and start the engine to ensure proper operation.
