I would not try to open up the changer mechanism or otherwise tamper with the physical box.
Instead, making sure the key is not in the ignition, remove the changer box from the trunk and detach the connecting wires (there is a simple multi-wire nylon connector.)
Then close the trunk and get in the car and start the car. If the radio is not off turn it off and then restart the car. Turn the car off and remove the key.
Return to the trunk, open it and reattach the connector and place the CD changer back in its place.
Restart the car. Turn on the radio and switch to the CD setting. If the changer will not load you may need a new changer.
You could probably do all of this without starting the car, but although there are key positions A, B and C, I really can never just stop at B or C anyway.
