I'm assuming that you mean without drilling into the door the only way to do this would be to have a latch, remember the old medieval 2 by 4 of wood that would go on two striking plates in front of a door. This is literally what I mean.
Other than that you could attach a euro cylinder or night latch fairly easy but it would involve drilling through the door.
