To open the boot (trunk) of a Citroën Xsara, you can typically use the key fob or the key itself to unlock the trunk. If your model has a release button inside the vehicle, you can press that as well. Additionally, some models may have a lever located near the driver's seat. If the trunk is stuck, check for any obstructions or try using the manual release mechanism, if available.
The boot lid is held open by the gas struts. One or both of yours is faulty.

There is a small micro switch located within the door of the boot somewhere? if this is faulty it will release the boot by itself. I think it is located either behind the boot door internal panel or behind the exterior boot door handle you press to open.
Doors are not locking and the dashboard says boot open whenever the ignition key is turned on
The words "Boot Open" means the trunk lid is open. Cheers, Jeff

open the boot, there is a very small flap near the boot lock, under this is a bolt that can be turned using one end of wheel nut spanner, when you have released the nut a fair bit you will be able to lift the wheel carriage under the car and move the hook out of the way, allowing the carriage to lower to the ground
