get another person to pull the handle, and thump the bonnet/hood at the front in the middle, but not hard enough to dent the metal.
If the catch is just a bit stucky due to lack of use this should shake the bonnet open.
Then lubricate the mechanism, and open it more than once a year!
in the driver side footwell - right hand side, just under the dash....
Sometimes the plastic coupling breaks, the coupling links the cable from the key barrel to the actual locking latch mechanism. Applying pressure to the coupling (pushing the cable towards and into the latch mechanism) and turning the key can open the bonnet if this is the reason why the bonnet is jammed.
If the bonnet release cable of your 2004 Renault Megane is snapped, you can try to access the latch manually. Locate the latch mechanism, which is typically found behind the grille or near the front of the car. You may need to use a flathead screwdriver or a similar tool to pry it open. Alternatively, accessing the latch from underneath the car, if feasible, could also help you release the bonnet.

you will find the bonnet release on the right (drivers side) on the lower wing panel under the dashboard.hope this helpsIf the level is slack, then the bonnet release cable has snapped. You'll have to jack the car up, and access / pull the cable from underneath.I jacked up the car, placed it on a stand on the passenger side, and reached up underneath.I've videoed it - quick to do once you see it.http://bit.ly/Yh1dQ9Read more:Where_is_the_bonnet_release_on_a_Fiat_Punto
