unbolt the rear seat and climb through Jaguar and others I'm sure, sell a Cigarette lighter to Cigarette lighter jumper cable (for charging, not jump starting) the battery. So, evidently you are not the first person this has happened to. On the 1996 XJ6 (and probably others), there is a positive post under the hood with a cap on it. It was on the passenger side, just in front of the firewall. I used that to charge the battery and it worked fine. And another: If you can't get the battery recharged, you can take the rear number plate off, drill a 15mm hole in the centre of the area behind it, then you can get at the push rods that work the lock. I can't remember exactly where to drill the hole - a friendly mechanic at my Jag dealer told me a few years ago. It does work (and when the number plate is bck on, who's to know!

How do you access the front turn signal bulbs on a 1997 jaguar xj6l?

To access the front turn signal bulbs on a 1997 Jaguar XJ6L, first, open the hood and locate the turn signal assembly. You may need to remove the headlight assembly by unscrewing the retaining screws or clips that hold it in place. Once the assembly is free, you can twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it and replace the bulb. Make sure to handle the new bulb carefully and reconnect everything securely before closing the hood.

What might be the most likely cause for check engine light turn on 1997 XJ6L?

IF the Oil level and coolant are ok, temp and pressure are ok, and the engine runs good, the chances are the Oxygen sensor in the exhaust system may be faulty, this is common in the 1994.5 - 1997 range of XJ's. The part is about $55 in the U.S. and is in faily accessable location before the Catalytic converter. But the dealer can pull the Diagnostic trouble code for a fairly reasonable price, BUT go to a Ford dealer rather than a Jag dealer, they use the same diagnostic equipment and use the same codes (but don't tell anybody).
