I doubt it changed much from my 95 ... in which case you unlatch two latches at the top of your windshield, then press a toggle switch located on the panel between your front seats.
It will lift the back of the top up slightly, enough to give clearance for the panel across the back of the car behind the rear seats to lift up, then the top will auto-retract into it's storage space, and finally the panel that lifted up closes again, therefore concealing the retracted top.
Raising works in reverse with the same toggle switch pushed in the opposite direction. The rear cover opens, the roof moves until it gets to the top of the windshield frame, the rear of the top lifts up so the rear panel can close, and then the rear of the top goes down tight against the closed cover. Last thing is for you to manually latch the two latches at the top of the windshield.
It goes quickly...I often would open (or close) the top during the time I was stopped at a traffic light, and in every case the operation was finished before the light turned green.

release on SAAB 900 S convertible
Yes. Saab makes a 900 convertible. It is called the Saab 900 se convertible.
Yes, I would definitely buy the SAAB convertible since it is classy.
The manual release for the convertible top of a '94-'98 Saab 900 is behind the back seat. It is accesible by folding down the back seat. After you fold down the seat the release is on the right side in the middle. Look for a slit in the fabric and you will see a lever. To release pull lever all the way down.
This is a common concern. The tonneau motor assembly is not strong enough to prevent the convertible top from chattering and sticking after consistent use. Check latches when top begins to stick the Saabs information display screen gives notification as well.
Jerry initially had a BMW 5 Series as there is an episode where it is ruined by BO from a valet. Later in the series he has a classic Saab black 900 convertible, then a later Saab non-turbo 900 SE convertible, auto with tan interior. I don't recall seeing him ever in a 9000. Edit: In the episode where Jerry's car gets wrecked and they go to "identify" the car he accidentally says "Saab 9000" but he means to say "Saab 900". He definitely drove a black 1996 Saab 900SE Convertible, he never drove a 9000.
pull the seat up.
The suggested retail price of a Saab 900 according to Kelly Blue Book is $2,375 to $4,625 based on the quality of the interior, exterior, mileage, and engine components.

Because probably the latches are not properly closes or they might be damaged
hit it with a baseball bat or a sleige hammer
Most definitely. Mostly, the 1991 900 turbo convertible special edition, preferably bright yellow. It is amazing.
