Hello mate, just done a 2007 model. Its held on with a wire spring clip. Remove the column cowling and you should find 3 small holes in bottom of the steering wheel. Insert a small flat screwdriver in the holes and push the wire clip inwards towards the centre of the column. it should just lift off. Of course you should have already disconected the battery for 30 mins first-make sure you have radio codes first-might have to re-set electric windows too. Hope this helps
remove the centre console and its under there, around the handbrake
What about it? If you want to know where it is, remove the centre console from around the handbrake and its under there.
Don't do that! It's a major mistake to do that! The airbag is a safety device.

There are two small bolts on the side that hold in the airbag, remove those and the airbag will come out, revealing a T60 (IIRC) bolt in the center.
how to remove driver side air bag
To remove the driver's steering wheel airbag on a 1999 Holden Commodore you will need a special set of tools to remove the 4 to 6 security screws that are holding it in. If the vehicle came equipped with a airbag, it needs to have one to remain road safe.
sounds like earth fault under drivers airbag, very common but will need to follow process to remove airbag.
Take it to the dealer so that you don't accidentely trigger it and hurt yourself.
there is no way of doing this unless you remove the dash. there is only a couple of small screws holding this in but it is impossible to take them out as they cannot be accessed.
Take off the steering wheel cover and unscrew all the screws then disconnect the wires.
