Its been awhile since I've done them. (i have a 2000 s 500) but if you have any knowledge on how to change brakes you won't have any problem. these are probably the easiest pads i have ever replaced.
Try taking the battery cable loose. That works for a lot of cars. I've never had any experience with a mercedes. To reset you brake light or any warning on the S430, just hold down the button (a lil black button on the right side on you instrument cluster) and that will do it. The Brake Sensor warning light will reset itself once the vehicle is restarted. Most common problems are 1. You have a bad sensor or 2. You did not replace the brake the sensors were triggering. There are 3 sensors on the S430 One on each front wheel and 1 on the Right Rear Wheel.
most likely you have bad brake light svitch

To reset the brake warning light on a 2002 Mercedes S430 after replacing the brake pads, you typically need to use the vehicle's onboard diagnostics system. Start by turning the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine. Then, press the accelerator pedal three times, which may reset the warning light. If the light persists, you may need to use a diagnostic scanner to clear any stored codes related to the brake system.
