I do not know that is why I asked the question. The retainer ring has a plastic or acrylic frame around it.
If you just want to change the bulb, you might be able to reach your hand behind the headlight and twist the locking ring counterclockwise and remove the bulb.you may need to unbolt the headlight housing to make room to replace it.
You can go it yourself. It should only take you a few minutes to do. It is good to replace both bulbs when you replace one just in case. Also make sure you are using gloves when replacing the headlight. The oil from your hand can cause the bulb to break.
Pull the headlights to the "ON" position. This means pull the knob out till it stops, which means the headlights will be on. With your right, reach under the dash a depress the small button on the switch. With your left hand, pull the knob all of the way out. Then you will have acess to the retainer. With a large screwdriver, remove the retainer and the headlight switch will slide out of the dash. When you unplug the switch, the headlights will go off, or you can disconnect the battery. If you don't understand about the small release button on the headlight switch, look at a new one. You will see the button. It must be fully depressed.
It should be a bulb. look behind the light itself. There is a plastic ring you can unscrew by hand. after that, pull the bulb out and replace it. Be careful not to touch the glass of the bulb with your hand. the oils on your skin will cause it to burn out fast.
easy....four screws on the big black rectangular box right behind driver's side headlight (with thick airhose coming out of left hand side)..undo, lift up top , side old airfilter out, slide new one in...replace top...rescrew...done!
There's a chrome trim ring around the headlight, which pries off. Remove it, and you'll find another ring around the headlight, which is held on with three screws. Remove the three screws and the ring, and the headlight will fall out in your hand. Unplug the old, plug in the new and..."installation is the reverse of removal."
Have someone with smaller hands to do it for you.
To change the headlights from left-hand to right-hand beam on a Mercedes CLK, you typically need to adjust the headlight's beam pattern. This can often be done by locating the adjustment screws on the back of the headlight assembly and turning them as specified in the owner's manual. In some models, you may also need to replace or reposition the headlight lens or reflector. Always refer to the specific vehicle’s manual for detailed instructions as procedures can vary by year and model.
the bulb that the car uses is a 9004 headlamp. Locate the wire behind the headlight in the engine compartment. unplug the wire from the bulb. With your hand you will feel a retainer ring that is about two inches in diameter. turn it about a quarter of a turn counter clockwise and it will come off in your hand. Pull the bulb out. Get the new bulb and reverse the process. It is pretty simple, the bulb will only fit one way and so will the wire that attaches to the bulb. Remember, it is very important that you do not touch the bulb(glass part). The oil from your skin will form a "hot-spot" and shorten the life of the bulb considerably.
Well just the bulb or the whole assembly? If whole assembly, then you must remove ft bump. If bulb only ,depends on engine space and size of your hand, you can gain access to bulb behind headlight assembly.
