To replace the ABS accumulator on a Jaguar XJS, first, safely elevate and secure the vehicle. Disconnect the battery, then locate the accumulator, which is usually situated near the ABS pump. Remove the hydraulic lines and mounting bolts, then take out the old accumulator and install the new one, ensuring all connections are tight. Finally, bleed the brake system to remove any air before reconnecting the battery and testing the system.
There is no 1998 XJS. Production ceased in 1996.
The fault code FF77 typically indicates a fault with the ABS hydraulic unit or the ABS control module in a 1994 Jaguar XJS. It is recommended to have the ABS system diagnosed and repaired by a qualified technician to ensure the system is functioning properly.
The reason for the constant running of the ABS Pump is that the Acumulator (round black ball) that sits a top of the ABS pump is shot. It has a charge of nitrogen and maintains pressure in the brake system. I would bet tahat as soon as you depress the brake peddle the abs motor turns on. The acumulator should be replaced asap. The abs motor constantly cycling could cause the motor to burn out. To replace it is big bucks. To replace the accumulator you can purchase it from Jaguar for $350.00 or you can purchase one from a Chevrolet or Buick dealership. Its the same part for around $120.00. To replace the brake pads on a 1990 Jaguar XJS, first, lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands. Remove the wheel to access the brake caliper, then unscrew the caliper bolts and slide the caliper off the rotor. Remove the old brake pads, install the new ones, and compress the caliper piston if necessary. Finally, reattach the caliper, secure the bolts, and replace the wheel before lowering the car back to the ground.
Some do, some don't, you'll need to be more specific.
