A Toyota Matrix transponder key is factory programed. At times this programing can fail. It is a quick process for the dealership to reprogram the key. A lost key and transponder will cost approximately $100 to replace depending on model.
You have an immobilizer problem. Try another key.
To disable the immobilizer on a 2002 Citroën Xsara, you typically need to use the key that is programmed to the vehicle. If the key is not recognized, you may need to reprogram it using the vehicle's onboard diagnostic system or consult a professional locksmith or dealership for assistance. Tampering with the immobilizer system can lead to security issues, so it is important to follow the correct procedures. If you are unsure, seeking professional help is recommended.
To reprogram a transponder key for a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, you'll need to have both the original key and the new key. Insert the original key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position for about 10 seconds, then turn it back to the "Off" position. Remove the original key, insert the new key, and turn it to the "On" position within 10 seconds. The security light should turn off, indicating that the new key is successfully programmed. If you have trouble, consulting the vehicle’s manual or a professional locksmith may be necessary.
To reprogram the transponder on a 2003 Mercury Sable, you'll need a working key and the vehicle's ignition system. Start by inserting the working key into the ignition and turning it to the "On" position without starting the engine. After about 10 minutes, turn the key back to the "Off" position and repeat this process two more times. On the third cycle, turn the key to the "On" position and then quickly insert the new key within 10 seconds to program it.

The immobilizer key can only be programmed by an automotive locksmith that specializes in transponder or immobilizer keys. If no locksmith in your area can help you can take it to the dealer. There is no way to do it yourself.
The dealership can generally program a new transponder key based on the VIN. Most good locksmiths can reproduce the key, but would need the original to do so.
You can't. If you need another copy of your key made you must have the dealer clone one for you. If you don't have a key to the car, you must pay for programming and key match. No way around it. Sorry. Usually 100 bucks programming if you need a new key (i.e. keys were stolen) and 30 bucks per key. I heard that if you buy a transponder key, what you do is put the original in the ignition, and turn it to the "on" position. Leave it for a minute or 2, take it out, do the same with the new key, and the new key should be programmed. not 100% positive though.
