The valet button on a Jaguar XJ6 disables certain functions of the vehicle to restrict access to the trunk and glove compartment, ensuring that personal belongings are secure when the car is parked with a valet. When activated, the valet mode prevents the trunk release and may limit other features, allowing only the ignition and driving functions to remain operational. To engage or disengage valet mode, you typically press the button located within the car, often near the center console or dashboard, and the system will indicate its status through a light or message on the display.
I hit the valet swtch in my 1995 xj6 when cleaning, The boot will open via the switch on the dash and or with my key, but when using the fob to open the car, all is fine but the boot has to be done via key as it dont via central looking.
On most cars, the alarm is deactivated when the right key is put in the ignition
