depends on the year if it's older it will cost more because something might need to be replaced and the older it is the harder to find the part but in general I'm guessing it could run you from about $300-$1000 like I said depending on the model

If you are replacing the brake lines ( metal ) then just use your better judgment. They do not have to follow the original route.

replace calipers in pairs. replace brake hoses at the same time.

An excellent manuael for installing the brake shoes is the Haynes repair manuel for the 1984-1993 Ford Tempo/Topaz. They show a step by step procedure with lots of photographs
Go to www.autozone.com where they have a great repair section that is pretty much the Haynes auto repair book online and best of all it's free. They should be able to tell you how to do any repair.
There are several sources that offer brake repair service by a brake team, you should choose one that offer the least stress on you as they do the repair. Two names come to mind and they are Mienke Brake Repair Service and GMC Brake Service and their work is excellent.
