back
Bank 1 is whatever side cylinder #1 is on, could be front or back.
Black for signal, Gray for ground, 2white's for heat
for a 97-03 grand prix there is a front and rear o2 sensor. bank 1 sensor 2 is the sensor located on the exhaust near the catalytic converter (cat) also known as the REAR sensor... bank 1 sensor 1 is located on the back of the engine on top of the exhaust manifold or headers would be the street term. thats the FRONT sensor.
As viewed from the front of the car, bank 1 is the cylinder bank to the back. Sensor 1 is on the manifold pipe upstream of the catalytic converter. It is visible, but not reachable, from the underside.
Assuming this is a 3.0 engine, bank 2 would be the three cylinders up front (2,4,6). Bank 1 would be the three cylinders in back (1,3,5). So bank 2 sensor 1 is the O2 sensor right up front that you can see easily.
Passenger side is bank 2. Sensor 1 is in front of the Cat., and sensor 2 is in back of the Cat.
"bank 1" refers to the side of the engine with the forward most cylinder(cylinder#1).... all bank 1 is that side of the vehicle... bank 2 is the other side and sensor 1 is first in line from front to back
You Did not say what year SAAB, but on mt 1996 900S there are Two. Both go into the exaust pipe, on on the front side of the engine (just below the exhaust manifold) and one on the back side of the engine (below the intake manifold).
The O2 sensors are numbered from front to back. For V6 and V8 models bank one is whichever side cylinder #1 is on.
Assuming this is for the V6, Bank 1 refers to the bank of cylinders toward the back of the engine compartment, near the firewall. Bank 2 is in the front of the engine compartment. Sensor 1 is the top sensor on the exhaust manifold right before the pre-catalytic convertor. Sensor 2 is the sensor after the pre-cat and before the exhaust merge.
TWO REQUIRED BANK ONE SENSOR IS LOCATED IN THE BACK OF THE MOTOR. CLOSE TO THE FIRE WALL ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. bANK TWO SENSOR IS LOCATED ON THE CATALYST TOWARD FRONT OF THE MOTOR. BANK ONE YOU CAN USE A OXYGEN SENSOR SOCKET AND A LONG EXTENSION, BANK TWO WILL REQUIRE A COMBINATION WRENCH (7/8) IN SIZE.
Bank 1 sensor 1 is screwed into the exhaust manifold on the back of the engine. Bank 1 sensor 2 is screwed into the catalytic converter.Bank 1 sensor 1 is screwed into the exhaust manifold on the back of the engine. Bank 1 sensor 2 is screwed into the catalytic converter.
