YES!!!!! Use only the recommended lube as described in your owner's manual. Dextron III is an A/T fluid and is not even close to 80w90 gear oil. Use gear oil and you won't be able to shift it. Why would you even want to do this? not necessarily. dextron III is for *automatic* transmissions, the user specified a *manual* transmission which uses gear oil and not dextron III ATF. They should never be mixed however, and the user should make sure that the 80-90 is recommended by the manufacturer for the specific climate the car is exposed to. Most of the newer model manual transmissions do use dextron III with mercon, I know it sounds funny to use atf in a manual but that is what these new ones use. Mine has a tag on the trans that says use only dextron iii
