Normally oil leaking from the top of an engine is a sign that you have a leak at a valve cover. The cover may be loose or the gasket may be defective. Tighten the valve cover bolts to no more than 5 lb/ft of torque. If that does not stop the leak, the gasket will need replacing.

On a 2005 Vauxhall Vectra CDTi 1.9, the oil filter is located on the underside of the engine, typically near the oil pan. It's best accessed from underneath the vehicle, and it may be necessary to remove the engine cover for easier access. Be sure to use the correct tools and take safety precautions when changing the oil filter.

What is the oil capacity for a Vauxhall vectra?

depending on the engine size it is about 4.5 litres of 10w40 , i would recomend a least a semi-synthetic oil , as this leaves a nice coating on the internal parts of the engine and reduces wear and damage when engine is cold
