Check your glowplug relay and your glowplugs. If you're not familiar with the procedure, buy a Mercedes Diesel repair manual from Chilton's or Haynes.
Because the relay is bad.. Or your wiring.
Yes it can
The engine won't run.
A faulty crank sensor would make the engine not run.
The crank sensor sends a signal to control the spark timing to the engine. If the sensor goes bad the engine may run rough or not run at all.
The starter will crank the engine over but it won't run.
The tone rings for the crank and cam position sensors are different and the engine will not run.The tone rings for the crank and cam position sensors are different and the engine will not run.
To release a gas lock on a Mercedes-Benz 300D, first ensure the fuel tank has sufficient diesel fuel. Next, locate the fuel filter and loosen the bleed screw to allow trapped air to escape, while cranking the engine briefly. Once fuel begins to flow steadily from the bleed screw, tighten it securely. Finally, try starting the engine again; it should run smoothly if the air has been successfully purged from the system.
replace the engine. quite simply the average person cant, and a mechanic probably wouldn't because of the cost. just go out and buy a Mercedes-Benz 300d from the late 70's to mid 80's. the are loud but smooth, safe, and get about 30mpg.
You don't need to convert it. You only need to add the conversion kit if you choose to run veggie oil. Remember though that BioDiesel cleans out sludge from regular diesel fuel and if you try to run just pure Bio you may experience plugged fuel filters. Just buy a couple spare filters and carry them with you. I have a 82 300D Turbo I run on Bio. For a conversion kit look to LoveCraft in Hollywood California. One of the leaders in the industry. No. The engine won't run with a faulty crank sensor.
In most cases, yes. Especially with older engines (pre 1980), the engine will crank, but it may not fire. If the engine does start with the timing off slightly, it will run rough.
