Best Answer

This is a classic symptom of a tire out of balance. Have the tires inspected for damage and have the tires rotated and balanced. This should solve the problem.

How would you troubleshoot Steering Problems that are not related to a wheel alignment?

Have Your front rotors turned [ machined - surfaced ] on the vehicle and your steering wheel will stop shaking. If you expierance shaking in the steering wheel while stopping. By the way mark 8's need 4 wheel alignment not two the steering problems are caused by worn balljoints i had same experience twice, this is common for a mark 8. you can rent ball joint press and purchase the balljoints at autozone.to replace bottom and top for both sides will be under 200 bucks plus you get full refund on the press.only the front wheels need it and then have all wheels aligned.

What is the steering plus or minus level on your 95 town car next to the steering wheel?

Are you asking about the cruise control adjustment? The switch you are asking about changes the "feel" of the power steering. You can go from "easy to turn" to "harder to turn" the steering wheel by moving the switch. Newer model Lincolns don't have this feature any more----I liked mine.

Who knows something about a chronic problem in steering system of the new Mercedes C-class?

Since I purchased the car in December 2007, two months later I started to experience the steering wheel shaking. I took it in, and was told nothing is wrong. Did this two other times. Today, took it in for the yearly maintenance and reported again the steering problem. They offered this time a wheel balance at the dealer for $79.95 plus the $520 maintenance cost. WheeeaaaaHHHHH. They got my money. I am not happy with this car at all. Since, I bought it I have had problems. It's only been two years. It truly sucks.

What problems can there be when your car shakes?

if the steering wheel shakes there can be a problem with alignment. shaking when braking would probably be a brake problem. constant shaking i'd expect you should check the muffler If the front end of your car shakes when just driving normally, your front end probably needs re-aligning. If it shakes when you apply the brakes only, your brake rotors are probably warped and need re-surfaceing. Impossible to answer question, please be more specific. It shakes when... I feel it shake in the steering wheel when... I'm driving along and... etc. It depends on WHEN it shakes. Low speed driving: damaged tire, U-Joint, ignition misfire, burned valve, low engine RPM. Highway driving: loose steering, faulty ball joints, tire balance, bent wheel, tire damage. Engine idle: burned valve, ignition misfire, motor mounts, low engine RPM, dirty injectors, EGR valve... All of the above plus quite a few other possibilities.
