I have a 2000 323Ci and even the routine maintenance is expensive at the dealer. Figure $120 plus for the once-a-year oil change. A brake job for all four runs $3,500. That being said, I'm married to a mechanic who does all those things much cheaper. The required amount of synthetic oil is about $70, and he did all four brakes with OEM parts for $700. They wanted to charge me $590 to replace the oil level sensor. We found the part on line for $110 and with $70 for the oil (since to change the sensor you have to drain the oil) he did the job for only $180. Bottom line, pricey to buy and pricey to maintain, unless you can DIY.
