The indicator light resembling a gear with an exclamation point in the center on a 1992 BMW 325i typically signifies a problem with the transmission or the vehicle's transmission fluid. It can indicate low transmission fluid levels, a malfunction in the transmission system, or a need for maintenance. It's advisable to check the fluid levels and consult a mechanic if the light remains on, as driving with this warning can lead to serious transmission issues.
If it says 'Brake Light Failure' or similar, your brake light is out. change the bulb.

hey i own a 1992 325i BMW and my chech engin light came on with a yellow circle gear and a exclamation mark any body knows what that means Its is the transmission service light!!! very important. mine came on one night, and wouldn't get out of third gear unless shifted. Then the next day it was fine but I lost 2 hundred rpms of power. so now I'm just over 3000 rpms at 80 mph.
you may need to check your brake fluid level.
Could be a bad fuse. It could also mean a motor has given up or the frame the window is secured to could be binded somewhere
The Maintenance Required Light is not the same as the Check Engine Light. The Maintenance Required Light is telling you that there is scheduled maintenance that needs to be performed. It may mean it needs an oil/filter change. To find out what needs to be done look at the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual.
