fram ch8481 wix 51226
First off I would not recommend any Fram filter for any car. They are poor quality filters. Purolator, Wix, & Bosch, are what I recommend. But saying that the correct Fram filter for your 1998 Civic is PH3593A and the PH4386 is not the correct filter.
Try the Fram PH 5 Filter,Ive all so used the ph30 filter.
You don't. Fram makes an inferior filter. Use a quality filter such as Purolator, Wix, or AC/Delco, if you want that engine to last.

Fram CPH 6607 fits 1998 Mazda Protege 1.8l engine.
Yes
For Fram, anything that ends in "16" fits my 98 4.0 XJ.

No Such Fram Filter
Fram PH3387A or Fram TG3387A or Fram XG3387A
The main differences are: Purolator: Metal endcaps, more filter media, can't remember how the bypass valve is made up Fram: cardboard endcaps They cost the same, or close enough where it doesn't really make a difference. The generic orange canister Fram oil filters are considered to be of inferior quality due to outsourcing of their manufacturer. If you use these, change frequently, as they might deteriorate with prolonged service. Also, I compared the fuel filters for a Mercedes - Fram vs the Mercedes brand. Fram was vastly inferior - it looked cheap by comparison. I would never use the Fram.
