That is Wet/Winter mode. During very wet or icy conditions you can use this so you don't spin your tires all the time. The W makes the transmission start in 3rd gear. This puts less torque to the wheels. You may have noticed once or twice when its wet out and you are trying to get going the wheels will spin freely. That's because the car has too much torque for certain conditions.
