The catch lever to open the fuel tank on a Peugeot 406 is typically located on the driver's side, near the floor, just to the left of the seat. It may be a small lever or a pull tab that you need to pull upwards or outwards. Once activated, this will release the fuel tank door for you to access the fuel cap.
70 L is the booked size of the tank, but I regularly get 78 L in when i fill up.
On the Peugeot 406 HDi, the fuel primer is typically located on the fuel filter. It is a small bulb or pump that you can manually squeeze to help prime the fuel system, especially after changing the fuel filter or if the fuel system has run dry. Look for it attached to the fuel filter assembly, which is often found in the engine bay or near the fuel tank.
Fuel filter is inside the gas tank, it has to be dropped and the unit taken out. Sry but it is a real pain to do, I suggest you go to a shop for it.
If you had run out of fuel and just refilled, then you need to put your ignition on and wait for the electric fuel pump to reprime. In some old cars you actually have to crank the engine to get the fuel flowing.
