In a 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon, the relay flasher is typically located under the dashboard, near the steering column. It can often be found in the fuse box area, specifically in the relay panel, which is accessible by removing the cover of the fuse box. If you're having trouble locating it, consult your owner's manual for a more precise location.

Our shop foreman recommends the Bosch W7DTCs for both the Digijet (1.9L) and the Digifant (2.1L) EFI systems. Originally, VW called for Bosch W7CC0, if I recall correctly. These plugs are obsolete, or nearly so. I have the W7DTCs in my 1984 VW Vanagon Westalia.
