Dexron III ATF or equivalent, according to the owner's manual.

Atf+3, but atf+4 is the new stuff out that replaces it.
very simple, you need a funnel and to check atf level when hot(run car for 20 minutes ,driving prefeably).....atf dipstick is yellow next to motor oil(red).put funnel in dipstick hole,you probly should seady it with one hand & pour in atf ...if level is stil low give atf as needed be carefull not to over fill as the pressure from over fill will cause leaking....hope this helpd'
It actually uses ATF in the power steering system. I believe Dextron IID was the spec for '84, but fortunately the newer Dexron formulations are backwards compatible.
