The primary ignition coils should have at least 10 amps of power running through it. Generally, this is far less power than what flows through the secondary ignition coil.
When you take a voltage reading at the coil with ignition on and the ignition points are open you would get the same reading on both + and - .
To test a Mitsubishi Montero Sport ignition coil, first, ensure the vehicle is turned off and disconnect the battery. Then, remove the ignition coil from the engine and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the primary and secondary terminals. For the primary winding, a typical resistance should be around 0.5 to 2 ohms, while the secondary winding should read between 6,000 to 15,000 ohms. If the readings are outside these ranges, the ignition coil may be faulty and should be replaced.
To test a 9N Ford coil, first ensure the ignition switch is off and disconnect the coil from the ignition circuit. Then, use a multimeter to measure the primary resistance by checking across the two terminals; a typical reading should be between 1.5 to 3.0 ohms. Next, perform a secondary resistance test by measuring across the high-tension output terminal and the ground; this should usually be around 7,000 to 10,000 ohms. If the readings are outside these ranges or if there are signs of physical damage, the coil may need to be replaced.
Hey, I have been reading that it is most likely the ignition coil that went out. I have the same problem and just ordered a new ignition coil... you should try that...is an easy fix
The ignition coil is down between the firewall and the back of the engine
To test the ignition coil of a Kawasaki Rouser 135, you can use a multimeter to check the resistance between the primary and secondary windings. Compare the reading to the manufacturer's specifications to determine if the ignition coil is functioning correctly. You can also visually inspect the coil for any physical damage like cracks or corrosion.
The ignition coil should be inside the distributor behind the cap. Remove the distributor cap screws, remove the cap and you will see the coil.
Replace it only if it becomes defective.
This model probably has the Regina engine. The ignition coil should be mounted on the drivers side fender well close to the firewall.
Please check your spark plugs, wires, distributor and rotor or the ignition coil module. My '93 LX has an ignition coil module.
To check the ignition coil on a 1997 Nissan Quest, first ensure the engine is off and cool. Disconnect the ignition coil connector and remove the coil from the spark plug. Use a multimeter to test the primary and secondary resistance; the primary should be between 0.4 to 2 ohms, and the secondary should be between 6,000 to 15,000 ohms. If the readings are outside these ranges, the ignition coil may need to be replaced.
The ignition coil is inside the ignition distributor.
