What would cause a 1990 230E Mercedes petrol to run rich causing the plugs to foul up?

Could be getting to much fuel buy a bad injector or injectors, might be a bad air flow meter. This is probably going to be a job for a proffesional. Id like to know the outcome of this so let us know what you find out. Goodluck!
