This can be tricky. first make absolutley sure ALL lights are working correctly, back up lights, license plate lights, turn signals, third brake light and all exterior lights are working. and also make sure they are all the same light brightness. if all are good then i would suggest seeing what light it says is out in your instrument cluster,i assume its a rear light. go in the trunk and remove the tail light assemblies from the trunk, (these are the main brake light circuit board assemblies that hold the bulbs) then disconnect the connector to them and inspect the pins, make sure there are no burn marks and they are all good, both in the connector and the circuit board assembly. if still no luck, check the rubber boot that the trunk lid hinges are by that route the wires through, you can pull the boot out and inspect the wires inside making sure none are damaged from the hinge of the trunk being moved. hope this helps.
The bulb could be 'blown'. Remove the working bulb from the other light and try it in the socket of the one that isn't working.
These symptoms indicate that there is either:a failure of the signal light switcha bad ground in the signal and head light circuits.
Did you check the light bulbs? If OK, probably a bad reverse light switch in tranny.
Check the fuses first. Is sounds like there is a power failure to the light system. There could also be a broken wire to the fuse box.
In a parallel circuit, if one light fails, the other lights will continue to work independently because each branch of the circuit is separate and unaffected by the failure of one component. This is in contrast to a series circuit, where the failure of one component would cause all components to stop working.
Brake light switch failure, bad ground wire at rear of vehicle or fuze blown.
The outside lights may not be working due to a blown fuse, a tripped circuit breaker, a faulty light bulb, or a problem with the wiring. It is recommended to check these potential issues to determine the cause of the problem.
Check the bulbs, fuse & brake light switch on the pedal.
Blown fuse, bulb, or bad brake light switch.
Check your brake light switch at hte brake pedal.
The lights in one room may not be working due to a blown fuse, a tripped circuit breaker, a faulty light bulb, or a problem with the light switch or wiring. It is recommended to check these potential issues to determine the cause of the problem and fix it accordingly.
